Study conference

The study conference is an advisory body of the respective directorate of studies. Half of its members are delegated by the students' representatives and the other half are appointed by the teaching staff. Through the study conferences, students are thus also involved in the quality assurance of teaching and in the organisation of studies and teaching. The study conference is chaired by the director of studies, who is a permanent member of the study conference in an advisory capacity without voting rights.

The tasks of the study conference include:

• Statement on the appointment of the deputy directors of studies
• Statement on planned minor changes to the curricula
• Recommendation and statement on the needs-based planning of teaching
• Recommendation and statement on the proposal of the directors of studies to the deans regarding the design and orientation of the course programme
• Advice on matters of study organisation
• Suggestions to the directorate of studies for improving study conditions

The size of the study conferences is determined by the respective director of studies on the proposal of the Faculty Conference. The study conference can consist of 8, 12, 16 or 20 members. The students delegate their representatives in accordance with the HSG 1998 (Students' Union Act 1998); the teaching staff are appointed by the representatives of the academic university staff of the corresponding curiae.
